Two variables drive how much cushioning an insert delivers: the density of the foam and, for board inserts, the corrugated wall type. Lower-density foam is soft and forgiving for light items; higher-density foam is firm enough to hold heavy tools without compressing. On the board side, more walls mean more crush resistance.
